and in our fully equiped gym.
Occupational Therapy is an option that may be added to your child's program.
If Occupational Therapy is an option you would like to include in your child's Intensive Therapy Program our registered occupational therapists are trained in the use of the Universal Exercise Unit for upper body strengthening and the Spider for vestibular activities. We have a SIPT certified occupational therapist on staff to assist with sensory deficits and a handwriting specialist that uses programs such as Handwriting Without Tears to assist with both fine motor and visual perceptual problems children may have with writing.
Kidspeech Inc. is able to provide speech therapy for those interested in adding speech therapy to the Intensive Therapy Program.
The Gross Motor Function Measure is administered to each child before their session begins and again at the end of the intensive therapy program. This test helps the therapists focus their treatment on realistic goals and provides parents and payors with measurable outcomes.
A home exercise program is given to families at the end of the program.
Families must be willing to carry out a maintenance program at home once the Intensive Therapy Program is complete. Instructions on an individualized home exercise program are given on the last day. This home program includes stretches and strengthening exercises your child has worked on and should continue with at home. The families are encouraged to continue with their private therapies after the Intensive Program. Many of the functional gains continue to emerge weeks after the session. Keeping the private therapies will help maximize this window of opportunity.
